February 12, 1947 was the day when a new modern fashion era began - on this day Christian Dior presented his first collection with a Bar suit as his signature design. It was christened “The New Look” by American journalist and editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Carmel Snow. This look marked a new post-war era in fashion and Christian Dior’s legacy is alive today more than ever. To commemorate 75 years from the premier of The New Look and founding of the House of Dior, we will discuss designer’s story and artistry, innovations and collaborations, iconic looks and products, and his everlasting fashion heritage.

It’s that time of the year again! The Toronto International Film Festival has come to a close and the fall film reviews are in! We at Lux Second Chance have taken a specific interest in films that deal with the topics of sustainability, the luxury market, and the ethics around fast-fashion. This year TIFF delivered with two titles that virtually speak for themselves: Rubaiyat Hossain’s insightful feature debut, Made in Bangladesh, and Michael Winterbottom’s latest mockumentary, Greed.

Every September the city of Toronto is buzzing about cinematography and everything related to it, as during the second weekend of the month all of Hollywood lands in the city for the Toronto International Film Festival. We are no exception: the film bug bit us too.  While there has been much written about fashion in films, as well as about the most iconic dresses and shoes from the movies, we decided to reflect on the most iconic bags from the screen.
